We love the romance of Harriett and Jack’s sophisticated February wedding at Hodsock Priory. From the elegant monochrome reception styling to the bride’s effortlessly glamorous big day style, every little luxurious detail felt right at home set against the backdrop of our grand country house wedding venue. If you’re planning a winter wedding, you won’t want to miss this blog. Thank you to Esther Louise Triffitt for capturing the day so perfectly and sharing these photos with us.

Getting ready at Hodsock

For the most relaxed – and luxurious – start to her wedding day, Harriett chose to book our Honeymoon Suiteto get ready. With sweeping views out across the Hodsock Priory estate, the suite provided a sense of calm before the excitement of the day. Also, can we take a moment for that magical late-winter sun, which filled the room with the most incredible light? So beautiful.

Harriett’s glamorous bridal style

Harriett opted for timeless glamour, with her gorgeous off the shoulder wedding dress. Featuring a wrap-over front and full-length button detail down the back, the chic gown really made a statement against the grand, historic setting of Hodsock Priory. Paired with a floor-length tulle veil and with her hair worn in loose blonde waves, the overall vibe was old school Hollywood – just gorgeous.

Working a classic monochrome style, Jack wore an all-black tux, while his best man and ushers wore traditional black and white tuxedos with bow ties. The bridesmaids looked stunning in black, long sleeved maxi dresses. The all-white rose bouquets were the perfect finishing touch, bringing this stylish black and white look together.

The country house wedding ceremony

Hodsock Priory’s Buchanan Hall is such a unique ceremony space offering that English country house feel, but with a more minimalistic, pared-back feel. Contemporary yet timeless, the natural wooden floors, neutral-coloured walls and antique chandeliers help set the tone for the most romantic ‘I do’s. Harriett and Jack added their own personal couple style to the space, opting for white woven fabric chair ties and a pretty white rose and green foliage circular display to frame the head of the aisle.

Sophisticated monochrome wedding styling

Harriett and Jack’s monochrome wedding theme really came to life at their reception. Here, Hodsock Priory’s elegant Pavilion dining room was filled with long tables – perfect for an informal and sociable wedding breakfast – making the most of the extensive space. Tables were dressed with crisp white linen tablecloths, and green foliage table runners. Tall white tapered candles in slender black candlesticks, monochrome menus and chairs featuring the same woven ties as the ceremony, were all that’s needed to bring the sophisticated theme to life. We love the addition of the giant light-up letters, spelling LOVE, which added a sense of fun to the occasion.

The wedding photos at Hodsock Priory

Hodsock’s historic Tudor Gatehouse is the most spectacular setting for wedding photos. Harriett and Jack chose to have their iconic confetti toss photos taken in front of the grand archway and the photos are just fabulous!

A winter wedding doesn’t mean missing out on the glorious countryside setting of Hodsock Priory. Our bride and groom made the most of golden hour, exploring the beautiful gardens and grounds with their photographer to capture some romantic sunset snaps. These are the kind of wedding photos you’ll treasure forever.
