2026 is the year of making weddings your own. We love how modern couples are leaning into a more personal, bespoke approach to their big day. Wedding trends come and go, but what we’re seeing more and more at Hodsock Priory is a move towards experience-led, intentional celebrations. It’s an exciting time to be planning your wedding, and we love to see the ways couples are personalising their days. Here are our favourite 2026 wedding trends, and how you can make it work for you at Hodsock Priory.

Experience over everything

We’re going to see more couples prioritise the wedding day ‘experience’ over numbers. This doesn’t necessarily mean a shift towards smaller weddings in terms of guest numbers. Instead, it’s a focus on making every aspect of the day feel bespoke. Interactive elements like wedding day illustrators and DIY cocktail stations are perfect for creating this immersive big day feel.

Multi-day celebrations

Stretched-out multi-day wedding celebrations are going to be big in 2026 and 2027. While weekend-long weddings have been growing in popularity over the past five years, we’re seeing a more relaxed approach to two- or three-day celebrations. Think less scheduled and more free time to just hang out with all your favourite people. We adore hosting multi-day weddings at Hodsock Priory and can work with you to create a perfectly ‘you’ celebration. From after-hours nightcaps in the Library to a leisurely farewell brunch, we’ve got you covered.

Last dance

While the traditional first dance is still hugely popular with our couples, we predict the last dance is going to have a moment in 2026. Newlyweds are putting as much thought into the last song of the night as their first dance. It’s a chance for all the guests to pile onto the dancefloor together to an anthemic number, as the party comes to an end. An epic last dance guarantees guests will go home on a high. Plus, we’re certain it’s something everyone will remember forever.

Dinner party-style receptions

2026 couples are embracing a more intimate dinner party-style setup for receptions. Instead of traditional round tables and a long top table, expect to see more informal long table setups, or even cool caterpillar table layouts. Candlelight, sharing platters and excellent wine pull the vibe together perfectly.

Architectural florals

Florals go bold for 2026, becoming an extension of your venue. Think voluminous arrangements to frame fireplaces, cool hanging floral installations and grand entrance displays, creating a sense of occasion and bringing the wow factor.

Telling stories

In place of a simple signature in a guest book, 2026 wedding guests are being encouraged to share their favourite stories of the newlyweds. At Hodsock Priory we’ve seen more couples opt for audio guest books, where guests can record a message for the couple to treasure forever. While photo booths remain popular, we predict 2026 weddings are going to be all about the 360-degree photo booth.

Comfort food

Forget about the wedding food you think you should have, we’re very much here for the 2026 wedding trend where couples choose the menu of their dreams instead. Expect a move towards comfort food with a twist. Think elevated classics like hot dogs (AKA posh dogs), loaded fries and Korean fried chicken. If you’re planning a 2026 winter wedding, treat guests to a DIY hot chocolate station, complete with ‘help yourself’ squirty cream, marshmallows and sprinkles.

A focus on personal meaning

The overall sentiment for 2026 weddings is that couples feel freer to really show off their unique couple style rather than following the one-size-fits-all wedding. 2026 couples are rewriting the wedding rulebook and creating days that feel truly ‘them’. From ceremonies to receptions, people don’t feel they have to stick to all the old traditions and instead can have fun picking the ones that work for them as well as creating their own. As reported in the Bridebook Wedding Report 2026 : “Couples are gravitating towards celebrations that feel authentic to them, with outdated traditions steadily falling out of favour.” We can’t wait to see how that plays out at our 2026 Hodsock Priory weddings.
